With his Bachelor from Melbourne University and Masters from the prestigious Guild Hall School of Music UK, Will is an Australian violinist who has taught violin and viola for many years. He has been delighted to help people of all ages and abilities find their musical voices, whether it be beginners, or those preparing for conservatoire auditions or competitions. He has had students from Grade 1 to LMusA pass their exams with flying colours, and regularly coaches chamber groups and leads orchestral sectionals as an orchestral tutor. While he is experienced in Suzuki and the Colourstrings methods, Willard tailors his teaching approach to each student as individual people so that they may shine in their own, unique, ways.
As a performer, Will aims to invite connection through raw and honest storytelling. As a soloist, he has performed the Sibelius, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Mendelssohn concerti throughout Europe, Australia, and the UK. He has enjoyed wonderful masterclasses with Noah Bendix-Balgley, the Takásc Quartet, and Wolfgang Redik. He also holds a deep love for chamber music, performing most recently in the Mimir Chamber Festival and the Guildhall Chamber Music Festival, a highlight of which was an improvised performance of Schubert’s Rosamunde and the Mendelssohn Octet in collaboration with the Zora Quartet from Vienna’s MDW. Will has performed with the Australasia Orchestra, the Melbourne String Ensemble, Philharmonic Ensemble and has played for London Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
